We hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving break and were able to make some of the recipes we introduced at our last class! We had a wonderful time teaching students how to make the delicious Thanksgiving recipes including a Cranberry Turkey, Pumpkin Pie Shake, and Farro Pilaf!

The Pumpkin Pie shake was very easy to make. First, we sliced bananas into small chunks, then we combined it with 100% pure pumpkin puree, maple syrup, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, non fat milk, vanilla Greek yogurt, and ice cubes in a blender. We mixed all the ingredients together, poured it into cups and topped it off with some whipped cream! Did you know that ½ cup of pumpkin puree provides over 200% of your daily value of vitamin A? Vitamin A helps promote healthy vision and healthy bones!

Next, we learned how to make cranberry turkey! We prepared the turkey and placed it into the oven for 30 minutes. Then we added fresh cranberries to the dish for a sweet flavor! Cranberries are rich in flavanoids, which have antioxidant propterties.

Finally, we learned how to make Farro Pilaf. In a saucepan, we heated up vegetable oil over medium high heat, then added in the farro, which is an ancient whole grain that is rich in fiber and protein. We also added shallots, chicken stock and some spices and salt. We covered the pan, lowered the heat, and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Delicious!

We will be having Chef Omo teach us a mystery recipe! We hope you will join us on Tuesday, December 3rd for the mystery class! The class will start at 5:15 pm at Outdoor Rec. We hope to see you there!
